Michael J. DeRita is a graduate of Rutgers University New Brunswick Campus (B.A. 2009) and Rutgers Law School Camden Campus (J.D. 2012). While at Rutgers Law School, he was an active member of the Business Law Association and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. Mr. DeRita focuses his practice on complex commercial disputes, specifically construction-related matters, advising clients on everything from contract negotiation, formation and interpretation to complex professional malpractice litigation matters. He has extensive litigation experience involving both public and private construction projects. He also counsels clients on alternative dispute resolution processes and claim avoidance where appropriate.
He has litigated matters in municipal, state, and federal courts throughout New Jersey and New York. Mr. DeRita is admitted to practice in the State Courts of New Jersey and New York, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is also an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Camden County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division, and NJSBA Construction Law Section.
